Updates from Looking Glass
We were so excited to be the beneficiaries to Eugene Yoga's first yoga mat drive. Thank you to Eugene Yoga and their customers to being so generous as to donate over 40 yoga mats, blankets, and blocks to benefit Looking Glass clients.
SELCO Community Credit Union recently provided funds to Looking Glass Community Services with the specific purpose of furnishing 4 apartment units in a building owned by Looking Glass which houses the Looking Glass New Roads runaway and homeless youth day shelter. “SELCO has provided a great benefit to our community by this donation,” Looking Glass CEO Craig Opperman said.

United Way of Lane County honored Looking Glass board member, former Eugene School District superintendent and longtime local advocate for youth George Russell with the Alton F. Baker award annually presented to an outstanding community leader in honor of Baker, who in 1946 started the original Community Chest, now known as United Way of Lane County.

We are excited to have been awarded another four year accreditation from the New York-based Council on Accreditation (COA). This means Looking Glass has demonstrated to a third-party international organization that we have implemented the best practice standards in the field of human services. COA evaluates all aspects of Looking Glass programs, services, management, and administration.
In the editorial section of The Register-Guard on Sunday, February 18th, Looking Glass CEO Craig Opperman contributed to the discussion of finding solutions to Lane County's homeless challenges. “One issue that is important to me would be quality of services. On Friday February 9th, Looking Glass CEO Craig Opperman and staff, along with Lawanda and James Manning, had the privilege of attending our local chapter of Blacks in Government's annual banquet. With much of Lane County leadership in attendance, guests heard from Eugene mayor Lucy Vinis, keynote speaker Judge Adrienne Nelson, and DA John M. Haroldson.
Today we are excited to announce that Umpqua Bank has provided a grant for $6,000 to support education at Riverfront School. Thank you Umpqua Bank!
