Updates from Looking Glass
Members of the Cottage Grove High School student council chose Looking Glass as this year's MLK award recipient and presented a plaque to rural program staff members Sammy Elsdon and Amanda Hampton on Monday, February 5th at their Unity Week assembly.
Pegasus Pizza is providing a $5 donation from the proceeds of each specialty pizza sold during the entire months of February and March to Looking Glass
Every year Looking Glass staff from all of our programs gather to enjoy a nice brunch at the Valley River Inn. With live music from John Shipe and balloons by Debbie McDowell from Destination Events, Looking Glass celebrates the hard work our employees do to provide for youth, families, and adults in Lane County.
"Rural homelessness for youth is almost invisible, even to folks living in these communities," explains Looking Glass Rural Program Supervisor Amanda Hampton. "Youth are rarely out on the streets in a visible way, which means it requires targeted, intentional and collaborative effort to be able to reach the folks who are in need of our services."
Three times a week members of the Looking Glass staff go to the Starbucks next to the Valley River Center to pick up food donations. The food is taken to New Roads Center and Pathways Girls Program.
Looking Glass was proud to have been invited to speak at Eugene's Impact Club meeting last night.

Bring joy this holiday season to Looking Glass kids! Take an ornament from one of the particpating locations and buy a child in need a holiday gift. Presents can be returned to the orignal location or to our Admin office.
