#GivingTuesday is near!

Next week is #GivingTuesday! This year for your Giving Tuesday donations choose to invest in bettering the lives of youth in Lane County.

We will be launching our Amazon Wishlist that will include items for youth at our New Roads and PITCH programs, benefiting homeless youth and children in the foster care systems.

Also consider a financial gift that can be used to support our programs for youth struggling with poverty, mental illness, additction, learning disabilities, and family disruption.

Please encourage your friends and family to choose youth in Lane County for their Giving Tuesday donations!

Looking Glass Giving Trees are starting to go up around Eugene! Here is our tree inside the Oakway Center next to French Nails. Pick up an ornament and buy a gift to bring joy this holiday season to local youth who are working to overcome homelessness, addiction, poverty, mental illness, learning disabilities, and family disruption.

Thank you to Fred Meyer for donating pumpkins to our Indepdant Living Program. Our youth had a great time painting their pumpkins for Halloween!

Our Independant Living Program (ILP) serves foster youth who have turned 18 and are starting their adult lives with little to no support. Looking Glass' ILP steps in to offer that support and help our youth with college, work, housing, and whatever they need to become productive and happy members of our community.

Homeless Youth Awareness Month

November is Runaway and Homeless Youth Awareness month. In Lane County alone, there are over 2,000 homeless youth. Looking Glass Station 7, New Roads, and Looking Glass Rural Program offer many services to help our community's youth in crisis. From family reunification, shelter, food, clothing, education, counseling, and job search help, Looking Glass is the largest provider of services for runaway and homeless youth in Lane County.

Thanks Eugene Active 20-30 Club!

Eugene Active 20-30 Club #920 is a great supporter of Looking Glass. Not only do they support us through their volunteering efforts, but also through generous grants. This $1,500 will go towards helping foster youth at our PITCH Program buy basic needs (socks, underwear, etc.). Many foster youth come to PITCH with almost nothing, so this will go a long way in helping our community's disadvantaged youth!

Looking Glass' services for Runaway and Homeless Youth (RHY) are the only nationally accredited services for RHY in Lane County. Through our programs we also connect the families of many of our youth to rent subsidy services, avoiding evictions and keeping our youth housed. We are constantly trying to assist wherever we can!

Client Success Story

"Venessa" at age 19 came to New Roads when she was seven months pregnant and living out of her car. She had fled her abusive boyfriend two months before. One day while waiting for a meal at a local food bank, Venessa was approached by the New Roads Street Outreach team and the next day she completed an intake process at New Roads. She met with her Case Manager weekly and was able to get enrolled into the Rapid Rehousing Program. A week before her due date, Venessa moved into her own apartment. Venessa has now been housed in her own apartment for almost 10 months. She is the mother of a healthy baby girl and she reports that she has “never felt this stable in my life.”
