Annual Board Meeting Includes Multiple Honorees Recognized
At this year’s Looking Glass Annual Board Meeting, recognition was the theme with a Guiding Light award presented to Sid & Hank Voorhees for their years of auctioneering services provided at the annual dinner auction gala and a 35 years of service plaque given to a surprised and honored Marie Jackson, Looking Glass’ longtime CFO who is retiring at the end of the calendar year.

Job Panel: Skilled Trade Reps Visit Riverfront School
Riverfront School has launched a new Job Panel Series inviting area employers to visit the school to discuss options with students for their next phase of life after high school. On Wednesday, January 16th a panel of representatives from local trade and apprenticeship organizations came to inform students about the valuable options available to them here locally.
Looking Glass Joins Out of the Darkness Event to Support Suicide Prevention
Looking Glass was honored to be invited to have a table and talk to participants in this year’s Out of the Darkness walk fundraiser benefiting the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention which took place on Sunday, September 30th at Alton Baker Park. Members of our Counseling Program staff were able to speak with participants and talk about the variety of resources Looking Glass offers including individual therapy and group therapy as well as our crisis line, all of which can help in difficult times.
NCU Helps Looking Glass Assemble Paddle Battle Tables
Thank you to Northwest Christian University for sending a great group of volunteers to help us build our ping pong tables for our upcoming Paddle Battle event (to be placed at various LG programs after the event). As part of Enhance the Community (ETC) Day NCU sends students, staff, and faculty to local nonprofits for an afternoon of volunteering.
Graduation Day: Center Point & Riverfront Schools
Looking Glass Center Point and Riverfront alternative schools held their respective 2018 graduation ceremonies on Thursday, June 14th celebrating the culmination of years of hard work and support from teachers, counselors, families and friends for a group of aspiring and inspiring local youth. Each school has its own traditions for graduation ceremonies and each was emotional and celebratory for another unique group of Looking Glass clients.
Center Point School Holds Open House Ahead of Graduation
The week of June 4th through 8th was Spirit Week at Looking Glass' Center Point School. The activities of the week ended with an open house at the school preceding graduation events on Thursday, June 14th. "The purpose of the Open House is to celebrate the amazing work our students engaged in throughout the academic school year." Said Lynda Whitener the Program Director for Center Point.
2018 Job Fair Brings in a Crowd
Several members of various Looking Glass staff programs welcomed dozens of interested job applicants on Thursday, June 7th in the conference room at the Admin building. With a number of position openings, the various programs hoped to draw new applicants as well as engage the community in conversations about career opportunities.
