At this year’s Looking Glass Annual Board Meeting, recognition was the theme with a Guiding Light award presented to Sid & Hank Voorhees for their years of auctioneering services provided at the annual dinner auction gala and a 35 years of service plaque given to a surprised and honored Marie Jackson, Looking Glass’ longtime CFO who is retiring at the end of the calendar year.
This year’s meeting also included a focus on education, with Oregon Deputy Superintendent of Public Instruction Colt Gill providing the keynote presentation and discussion of Looking Glass’ role and importance in serving the often under-served 20% of students often facing the toughest challenges. Opperman also provided updates on the success and growth of the Regional Crisis Center which is now fully staffed and at capacity with 14 youth.
Among the annual meeting guests were many of Looking Glass’ longtime supporters and advocates including Senator James Manning, Commissioner Jay Bozievich, Blacks in Government president Linda Hamilton, Lane County Administrator Steve Mokrohisky, as well as representatives from Looking Glass Board of Directors and other community members.
The meeting was held at the Graduate hotel.
