This year’s Giving Tree program proved to be very fruitful for the youth and programs at Looking Glass! Staff were so thankful to the generosity of the community. Each program was able to spoil the youth we serve and provide a very happy holiday party and fulfill both the needs and wishes of each youth who requested gifts (more than 400 youth this year!).
2022 Giving Tree Program Brings in TONS of GIFTS!
The 2022 Giving Tree program went extremely well for Looking Glass staff and clients. Each participating program was once again able to spoil youth and family clients who sought support to ensure holiday wishes (and basic needs) were granted. Looking Glass is extremely thankful to the community of amazing donors and the participating tree donation locations!
Giving Tree 2021 Shows Astounding Community Generosity
2021 was a difficult year for a lot of people, including our understaffed programs and the vulnerable youth they serve. But despite the many challenges community members faced this year, they gave generously to the Looking Glass Giving Tree program and allowed most of our programs to spoil the youth who so richly deserve the extra goodies this year. Looking Glass program staff is incredibly thankful to all this year’s Giving Tree supporting businesses, organizations and community members including Valley River Center and Active 20-30 Club, Oakway Center, patrons at Oregon Contemporary Theatre, Coldwell Banker of Eugene, Umpqua Bank in Springfield and Eugene branches and the Eugene Director’s Mortgage staff members. More than 400 youth requested gifts through programs this year and all of them had their wishes fulfilled and basic needs met!
Giving Tree Success: Best Year Ever?
Despite the pandemic and challenges surrounding this year’s annual Giving Tree program (or maybe because of them), Looking Glass programs received an amazing amount of support and donations - enough to ensure every youth who requested them a gift covering their needs and wishes. Covid-19 may have closed a lot of the businesses that would have normally hosted physical trees and ornaments but it didn’t close the hearts of our donors. In addition to the physical gifts picked up at Valley River Center, Oakway Centre, Umpqua Bank, McKenzie Commercial and other amazing business supporters, we received thousands of dollars in restricted cash donations and dozens of Amazon wish list items.
