Center Point School held their physically distanced graduation in the parking lot behind the school on Friday, June 18th. We held an individualized ceremony for each of our 4 graduates with their families in attendance. William’s graduation is highlighted here.
Center Point School Director, Lynda Whitener made opening statements. “About 25% of students in the U.S. do not graduate from high school because of the commitment and hard work that it takes; you should feel so proud of yourself for accomplishing this, despite all of the challenges you have faced.”
Teachers and staff members had some words to say to each of the graduates and their families. This is what some of them said to William:
“It seems like it’s gone so quickly. You have grown so much…”
“Your contributions in class have been phenomenal, you care so deeply about others, you have a marvelous sense of humor & do such a great job analyzing history, specifically the bill of rights. I see you going into your life working so hard to make our world a better place. It has been a privilege to teach you.”
“So extremely proud of you. It’s so special how you care for other people; it’s such a good trait to have.”
“You deserve just as much as you give. You’ve transformed yourself into a person who can learn and grow and self-reflect and I can’t wait to see what you end up doing and building. I know you will build some incredible machines and whatever happens, don’t forget that you deserve as much as you give.”
“You will do fantastic in whatever you do!”
“I’ve watched you grow into this brilliant confident young man, you have inspired me to be a better person. I am so proud of you.”
“I’ve watched you blossom from the shy little boy who wouldn’t talk to me, into a young man who has achieved so much.”
“You are the first student from Center Point School to take a class at Lane Community College! You took the opportunity to do something beyond Center Point School, talking to classmates at LCC, it made me cry watching you! You have come so far.”
“You are an incredible leader to your peers, and you can achieve anything you set your mind to!”
William also took time to thank the teachers and staff for helping and supporting him in all he has accomplished and in his growth to be who he is today.
