A local family with an annual tradition of coming together to collectively donate to a local nonprofit took it upon themselves to outfit every single Looking Glass residential bed with new sheets and pillows this holiday season. The Floyd family, whose annual tradition of giving goes back several years, decided to support Looking Glass this year after helping various other groups in years past including Shelter Care.
Patty Smith, a Floyd family member, reached out in November to Looking Glass development staff asking for a specific need of a specific program that their family and some of her co-workers at the University of Oregon could help with. Bedding for the multiple residential programs is often an area of need so the Floyd family decided to solve that issue this year. The staff and youth clients at the residential programs was over the moon with gratitude for such a wonderful donation!
Direct donations of materials and supplies such as sheets and towels helps Looking Glass programs to save crucial funds for other needs and provides youth clients with high quality basic needs to help with their recovery.
In addition to the 40 sets of sheets and pillows, the Floyd family and several of Patty’s UO co-workers donated enough cash to help pay for some family get gatherings of residential clients over the holidays.
