Arbonne Charitable Foundation Provides Fitness Equipment for Pathways Girls Program

The Arbonne Charitable Foundation recently granted Looking Glass $3,000 in funding for the purpose of purchasing exercise equipment to provide a recreation area at our residential treatment Pathways Girls Program.

With the mission of providing support for programs and opportunities that promote the development of confidence and self‑esteem in teenage girls and boys, Arbonne Charitable Foundation was a natural partner to turn to when PGP staff and clients acknowledged the need for exercise equipment at the program.

The Pathways Girls Program provides residential treatment for female youth, ages 12 to 18, who have been involved in the juvenile justice system. Youth stay an average of six months before graduating and returning home or to other community settings. Components of the Pathways Girls Program include mental health treatment, substance abuse treatment, education, family counseling, and behavioral health skill development.

Adopting a routine that includes a moderate level of physical exercise is a healthy habit to form, a positive coping mechanism for dealing with stress, and an avenue to building strength, self esteem and self confidence. Thanks to Arbonne, PGP clients now have access to a a set of dumbbells, an elliptical, a rowing machine, and treadmill! Recreation time is offered daily, and girls can apply time spent using the equipment towards physical education credit.

Looking Glass thanks the Arbonne Charitable Foundation for this meaningful gift of movement for our PGP clients!
