Socktoberfest Drive Secures 7,000+ Socks For Youth

Socktoberfest Drive Secures 7,000+ Socks For Youth

On a chilly fall Eugene day in early October, New Roads Runaway & Homeless Youth Services Manager James Ewell posed for a photo opp taken by a Register-Guard reporter showing a sad and mostly empty bin of socks at the New Roads clothing closet which showed the current supply of socks offered to youth being at about 10 or so pairs. By the end of “Socktoberfest” the first ever month-long coordinated sock donation drive for Looking Glass, the challenge became finding storage for all the newly received socks - more than 7,000 pairs of socks were donated and they’re still coming in.

#GivingTuesday - Coastal Farm & Ranch Offers $1,000 Matching Donation

For this year’s #GivingTuesday (Nov 27) campaign, Looking Glass was offered a generous matching donation opportunity from the Eugene Coastal Farm & Ranch of $1,000. With hopes of raising another $1,000 from local, individual donors, we have created a special online donation page which describes the impact of various giving levels. These funds will be used to purchase new winter clothing and items as part of our winter donation drive efforts.

Community Challenge: Apartments for Rent Needed for Homeless Youth

Through the Rapid Rehousing Program, Looking Glass assists with rent for up to 2 years to provide homeless youth with secure housing along with mediation and ongoing case management support. Currently, we have 5 clients awaiting the opportunity to get off the streets and into housing, due to a shortage of property managers willing to rent to our clients. We need your help.
